This is my very first blog...

What I want to say is this... I adopted our second rescue from the Flint Humane Society about a year ago, she is a pit bull. Everyone we knew, friends and family warned us not to adopt this dog. They informed us of the "dangers" of owning a pitbull. I decided to begin researching about this breed myself. To my surprise I could not find any of the "horror stories" people talk about. Because they are just that, stories. That night I spent hours researching the breed online, and the next day I began calling vet clinics asking professional opinions about this breed. Once again surprised, everyone said they are great dogs with horrible reputations. Later that day aginst everyones wishes, I went with my gut and decided to call and put a hold on the 10 week old puppy we eventually adopted and named Cali. Cali is so loving, shes the biggest baby and we, as well as all of our friends and family adore her. Family or neighbors will react funny when they see her or hear what her breed is, because they will say but shes so calm and sweet. This breed is sadly misunderstood. They have horrible reputations, thanks to humans. These dogs are raised and forced to fight by certain individuals, and it is sickening. This breed is also used as guard dogs, little do people know this breed is the worst guard dog. Pitbulls are NOT born agressive. They become agressive due to mistreatment of humans. No animal deserves that. If you choose to mistreat your animals for any reasons whatsoever, you do not deserve to own them. This is what I am creating this blog for. I want to help make a change and save this breed and to stop animal cruelty. Im hoping people who feel the same can help too. I want people to see the amazing side of this breed. Given a chance and proper training the pitbull breed, which really is not a "breed" can be the best family pet! (I will get into the breed next blog) I hope anyone who feels the way I do can help me try and save this breed!!!
