My response to an article I read about a 4 year old attacked by a pitbull.

California (ChattahBox) – A four-year-old girl has been badly bitten by an unlicensed pit bull, once again sparking the debate over the nature of the breed. The unnamed girl had just arrived at her uncle’s home in Pomona when she is believed to have startled the dog.The pit bull jumped up and began to bite her in the face.
She was rushed to the hospital and is being treated for her injuries.
The dog was no licensed, and had not received its’ rabies vaccinations, sparking some fear as to the dangers presented to the child. The attack has once again started the debate over the safety of owning pit bulls. The dog has been taken into custody and is being investigated as a possible risk to human safety.

Heres what I posted on the news site after reading this story:
Does noone see anything past "pitbull attack"? Stories like this get me so fired up because after reading this story, what I got from it was this dog was obviously neglected. The dog had no vaccinations and wasnt even licensed? The problem is people are always so quick to blame this breed rather than looking at what needs to be looked at and that is these dogs being poorly treated. How do we know this dog wasnt raised to fight? How do we know this dog didnt live its entire life neglected outside as a guard dog with little human contact? How do we know this dog wasnt abused? The problem is everyone is so quick to judge, it is like racism. Noone knows what kind of history this dog had. I have a 2 year old pitbull, and before adopting her I did a lot of research and the only bad thing I could find is they have a bad reputation. Reseach these dogs, let me know what you find! I bet youll be surprised! You may even be surprised these dogs are ranken best family pet right under the golden retreiver. I know very well my pitbull has been raised very well and never has been treated cruely. I trust her with kids and other animals over my 2 year old lab mix. Another thing is look at Cesar Milan the dog whisper, who everyone looks up to as a trainer, many of his dogs are pitbulls and at the end of every episode he says dont blame the breed. People need to start using common sense and stop putting such a bad name on this breed. I love my pitbull shes the sweetest, most loving dog and all she wants is love and attention and I know I will always own one of these dogs because they are an amazing breed. If someone abused you and neglected you and forced you to fight, do you think you would snap? I bet you would too!
